介助犬の市民権

　車いすで一人暮らしの塚本貴英さん（62）は、介助犬のジッピーを「うちの次男坊」と呼ぶ。「テーク電話」と指示すれば、電話の子機をくわえてくる。「キブ」で、手元に置いてくれる。

　Kie Tsukamoto,62,uses a wheel-chair.She lives alone with her helper dog Zippy,who she calls"my younger son." At her command of "get phone,"Zippy goes and fetches a portable handset,and at "give"Zippy deposits it next to Tsukamoto.

  東京都豊島区で薬局を営んでいた11年前、自転車に乗っていて車にはねられた。頚髄を傷つけ、首から下がほとんど動かなくなった。

　Tsukamoto once owned a drugstore in Tokyo's Toshima Ward.Eleven years ago,while riding her bicycle,she was hit by a car.The injury to her cervical spinal cord left her virtually paralyzed from the neck down.
